It’s that most wonderful time of the year again. Joy to the world, it’s time for sending and receiving those wonderful “keep in touch” holiday cards to the ones you care about. But wait, in the age of all thngs digital, why would you want to send holiday cards still? Isn’t everyone connected on Facebook anyways?

Well, here are some reasons you may consider

1. Be personal – skip the email card | Holiday and Christmas Cards

A lot of things have gone digital in the past 10 years, including how we reach out to our family. Do you remember the good ol days of getting Christmas cards in the mail and building the tree on the back of a door with them? Wasn’t that much more fun that just getting an email with dancing elves with people’s faces superimposed on them? Switch it up and give the gift of sending a personal card in a way that has all but been forgotten. I guarantee, if you love getting surprises, your family will to.

Think for a moment; how fast did the last year go by? For me, I felt like it was just the holiday season yesterday and we’re already headed into the next one…crazy right?! When I look at my son, I see how much he’s grown in the last year and I know that if I skip a year of family photos, I’ll miss out on memories. I don’t know if you feel the same way or not, but a lot of our clients do, so we recommend getting them done every year so that you keep those memories preserved.

3. Fun family tradition

I know that family portraits don’t seem like the funnest thing in the world, but if you begin creating a theme around them for each year, it can become a fun, creative family tradition! Here are some ideas: Do a campfire theme with roasted marshmallows, etc., do your family portraits around a sports theme that you and your family enjoy, create a family get-together where you invite extended family and have it documented, along with some posed portraits. Those are just some ideas, but search Google or Pinterest to find more!

4. Great way to stay in touch

Sending something physical to someone is almost guaranteed to reach them. In a world of junk mail and spam folders, email doesn’t always reach it’s intended recipient. When I check my mail though, I make sure to look at every piece to make sure I get anything that’s addressed to me and open it. By sending something physical, you can be more sure that it will reach your family and friends and they’ll be happy to get it.

5. Because its the holidays and that’s what cool people do

I think this one’s pretty self explanatory, but a lot of our clients do get family portraits done every year and they’re pretty cool people, so it’s stands to reason that this statement applies :)

There you go! You’re 5 reasons for getting your family portraits done every year and getting those holiday cards…so why are you still reading this? Didn’t you get the picture? GO! Get them done already! Haha. We hope to be the photographers you choose, but more importantly, capture those memories. Cheers! :)
