Azim Khamisa at Next Level by Association

On a cold winter night in January Azim Khamisa shared his story.

It was a dark night on January 21, 1995 when Azim’s son Tariq, a 20 year old student at San Diego State University was shot and killed during one of his work-shifts while delivering pizza. Tariq’s killer belonged to a street gang called the Black Mob, and was 14 years old at the time. Tariq’s killer was told that in order to be apart of their gang, he had to kill someone, so he did.

However, Azim Khamisa story didn’t end there, it was only the beginning. Instead of seeking revenge for the loss of his son, Azim forgave the person who murdered his son.

Throughout the evening at Next Level by Association, Azim Khamisa shared the story of his life as the room sat in silence, in shock, and in amazement of the forgiveness that Azim truly had for the person who took his sons life.
