A REMINDER TO LOVE | FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER ORANGE COUNTY

Do you remember what life was like for you when you were 7 years old? If you could revert back to that time in your mind now, what is it like? Now imagine, you are enjoying the holidays with your friends and family all around you, breathing in the delicious spread of food lining the table and taking over your senses. You are running around playing with all of your siblings and cousins around the house, waiting in anticipation for the New Year to arrive. It soon comes and everyone rings it in as you begin to feel the wave of exhaustion sweep over you. You fall asleep on the couch and your dad picks you up and carries you to you’re the room you are staying in for the week to put you to bed. He kneels over you and kisses you on your head as you slowly drift off to your dreams.

The next morning you wake up and brush the sleep from your eyes as you head downstairs for breakfast. After a delicious meal of pancakes smothered in butter and syrup, you head out from the home to board the private airplane to fly back to your home. Your dad buckles you in snugly, kisses you on the head, sits himself in the cockpit and you feel the force of the takeoff create butterflies in your stomach as you ascend into the blue sky. You love the feeling of excitement and wonder it creates as you liftoff and sail through the clouds with your family.

Suddenly the plane begins to shake and your dad looks like he is struggling with the plane controls. You hear him call in an emergency call, but to no avail. The plane dips into a nose dive and as the plane dives towards the ground, you pass out. The next time you wake up, you are all alone and your family is gone. You walk for a while in disillusionment and confusion as you stumble upon a stranger. He seems kind and you tell him that your family has just died in a plane crash. The next day or so is a blur as you are taken to the hospital, then finally picked up by a relative and driven home.

As you get into your home, you just want some comfort…you find it in the family photos that you just had taken the month before with your family and with the happy memories of them. You wish you had more, but you’re glad you have these to remind you of the love that filled your home.

This happened last year to a little girl and I could never imagine having to go through something like this. She lost her mom, dad, sister, and cousin. This post is not written with a call to action to reach out to us or anything like that. It is written with a call to action to cherish each and every moment you have with the ones closest to you, no matter how old, because you never know when they will be gone.  Go home today and hug your family and tell them how much you love them.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to this little girl and her family has they go through the pain they are struggling with through the loss. Pray for them as well.

God Bless,

The Kincannon Family
