I first photographed this beautiful family in 2012 and my goodness do kids grow up fast. As soon as I saw Mckellen & Morgan they ran up to me and were so excited that I was documenting their family portraits. I thought, oh man, they’re so excited for this family session hopefully they’ll be total gems when it comes to asking for a smile.

Morgan couldn’t smile more, she was so happy throughout the day. Mckellen on the other hand was very crafty with attempting to avoid the camera. That was until I whipped out my back up camera and let him shoot with it. (Seeing as it has my favorite lens on it, that probably wasn’t the smartest idea, but luckily he did no damage! Haha)

What family doesn’t enjoy a silly, fun and candid photography experience in the sunny, golden hills of San Juan Capistrano? The combination of the sunlight just peaking over the ridge of the hills and the gorgeous yellow flowers lining the ground made for a perfect backdrop to this family’s photo session.

We started off the session with a little mommy & me time. You can clearly see that Mckellen was all about the silly and serious faces.

I gave these little ones my back up camera to play with.

These two photographs below were taken after Morgan & Mckellen bonked heads.

They quickly ran to mom and dad for comfort. How can I not document when a child runs to their parent for comfort? These two photographs just melt my heart!
