The Perfect Gift for Grandparents Day!
Some people don’t even know that Grandparents day is coming up on September 13th and for those of you who were unaware…now you know!
In 1978, President Jimmy Carter established Grandparents day as a national holiday, stating that the reason for it’s establishment be “…to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children’s children, and to help children become aware of strength, information, and guidance older people can offer”.
In honor of this day, what do you think would be the best gift you could give grandma or grandpa this year? What do you think would most honor them? I know there are many things that could be special to each individual grandparent out there, however I think we can all agree that the gift of their children and children’s children are held at the center of their hearts, wouldn’t you agree.
So, “why give images to the grandparents in you life this Grandparents Day?”, you may ask yourself? Let’s take a look at the top 3 reasons to give photos for Grandparent’s Day:
Number 3: They love reminders of their lineage.
Ask a grandparent what it is they spend the majority of their time thinking about. The answer you’ll probably get is something along the lines of their children, their grandchildren, or (most likely), both! Grandparent’s love their heritage and the fact that they are leaving behind a legacy.
Number 2: NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FAMILY
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard those exact words from parents and grandparents alike. Nothing is more important than family, period. If a grandparent’s house were to burn down, which do you think they would be more devastated losing, their TV or the pictures of their kids and their kids kids? I think you know the answer to that one. Why? Because there is no price tag that you can put on family.
Number 1: Reason to give photos for Grandparents Day…Memories
Lets face it, these bodies were not made to last forever and as we age, our bodies get slower and our memory fades. I know when I get older, I want to be able to have representations of my children and their children to look at so I can remember different stages of their lives. Sure, I’ll love the occasional coffee mug and t-shirt, but the most precious thing to me, will be the images and memories of my children and their children. Where do you stand on that? What do you think the grandparents in your life think?
There are a million things that you can do for that special grandparent in your life this September 13th and they will love you for it. Why not bless them with the honor of the memories of the most precious thing in their lives…family. :)
