This month at Next Level by Association we met Helice “Sparky” Bridges. The reason for her nickname is that she went through a period of her life where she needed to “lighten up” and she said, so she asked everyone to start calling her Sparky. She’s hilarious, proud of who she is, and completely authentic.

“Sparky” is a renowned speaker, trainer, author and advocate for children’s rights. She’s also the creator of the world famous, “Who I Am Makes A Difference”® Blue Ribbon Acknowledgment Ceremony. During the Next Level by Association dinner she demonstrated exactly what a Blue Ribbon Acknowledgment Ceremony is. There were boisterous laughs, sobbing tears, and joyful smiles throughout the entire Blue Ribbon Acknowledgment Ceremony.

In the past 30 years, her message has impacted over 30 million people worldwide and has been translated into 11 languages.

These next paragraphs are from her website:

“ “Sparky” has received recognition along with Former First Lady Barbara Bush and Kareem Abdul Jabaar for raising the self-esteem of children of all ages.  She has spoken on the same stages as Vice President Al Gore and The Dali Lama at the Environmental Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

Her stories have been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Chicken Soup for the Soul at Work, Chicken Soup for the Soul of America, Heart at Work and The Aladdin Factor. “Sparky’s” signature Blue Ribbon story was made into a 6-minute photo movie, which received over 3 million hits on YouTube.  She is the recipient of the 2005 TKF Gandhi Nonviolence Award and the 2009 speak for Success Women Changing the World Award.

“Sparky” travels the world teaching leadership training programs to business people, educators, parents, students, senior citizens and monks.  She helps to transform environments that eradicate bullying, ignite passion; purpose and productivity and makes dreams come true.” “ – Written by: “http://blueribbonstory.org/about/team/”

“Sparky” brought Tiffany Cano infront of the room to give her a Blue Ribbon, on the Blue Ribbon it says, “Who I Am Makes A Difference”. These ribbons are made by people that have disabilities and are hand made with love, care, and attention to detail.

Once “Sparky” gave Tiffany a ribbon, she then surprised Tiffany by asking Tiffany to give her a Ribbon.

We love documenting events. Not only does it allow us to hear great stories like these, but it also is a great memory of the events and moments that took place. We love being invited to Next Level by Association every month and being able to document those that are making a different around the world.
