If you haven’t heard of a full-service photography studio and why we all do what we do, I’ll give a little bit of history.
Full-service photography is the standard that’s existed for decades. The more limited-service approach of shooting some images and handing over a disc, thumb-drive, etc., is only something that has been around for the past 15 years or so. That being said, the reason why a full-service approach is adhered to by most professional photography studios like ours can be broken up into 3 reasons:
- Calibration is required between the photographer’s camera, computer, and the printer the images are printed on to retain the image’s quality. An image that looks great on the computer can come out orange, purple, or discolored, when printed on a random printer at Wal-mart, Costco, etc. A full-service studio has full control over delivering a quality product from beginning to end.
- Most people never wind up hanging images in their home or even getting around to printing them. In the past 10+ years, we’ve been in business, we have encountered people who never printed their images if they had printable version given to them, they lost their CD or images, or they printed them, and they cropped strangely, so they just threw them in a drawer. While we understand this isn’t everyone, this is the majority.
- Full-service studios cater specifically to the family who loves to decorate their walls and home with their family’s love. For some, that is not their priority and what is most important to them, and for those, the more DIY approach is a better fit. Still, for those who value making their family the centerpiece in their home, the full-service studio is designed for them.
When choosing a photographer we recommend first deciding whether you prefer a Full-Service Photographer or a Shoot and Burn photographer.
