The Skydiving Photographer :: Orange County Photographer
Last week I posted about my bungee jumping experience. This week I wanted to share a sky diving experience with all of you!
Growing up my dad and I would always drive down the 91 freeway and constantly see people jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. It was something I had always dreamed of doing, I remember as a kid and teen I would beg my dad to go with me. After my plea he’d always say, “Ha! You want me to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?” or “I’d have a heart attack” or, “I’m never doing that” and we’d always laugh about it afterward, but it was always something that I wanted to do together.
Years later, my dad says, he’s going sky diving. What?! Sky Diving?! Out of a perfectly good airplane? I couldn’t believe it.
Upon the class, and driving up to the airport, I was SO EXCITED. I expected to feel nervous, but I didn’t have an ounce of fear. I was just like, “Oh my gosh! I can’t wait to jump out of a plane!”
As we all piled in the plane, I remember the excitement. I voted to go first, so there I sat, the plane open and everyone on earth looking like little ants.
BEFORE diving out of the plane, they should probably tell you to breathe through your nose instead of your mouth, I had the HARDEST time breathing. As soon as my face smacked that wind going xxx miles per hour there was so much wind and pressure, that for some reason I couldn’t breathe for about a minute, that was terrifying, forget falling in the sky, when you can’t breathe.. that alone will scare anyone.
My favorite part however, was falling in mid air for 60 seconds or whatever it was. It was amazing experience and I’m so glad I got to share that with my dad.
Upon the parachute opening, well… it got tangled, then the guy adjusted it and said, “hang on!” That again was a bit nerve racking seeing my parachute strings all jumbled. But, other than that and not breathing… SO MUCH FUN!
