December 30, 2013
It’s the time of year where we share the top sessions of 2013 by Orange County Photographers at Kincannon Photography.
As I look on my past sessions from 2013 and compare them to my work in 2011 and 2012, it is amazing how much my photography has improved. It’s amazing how much you can grow in something your passionate about.
This year we’re going to do it a little bit different. Instead of reviewing the top 10 that are the most viewed. I’m going to put this blog on the top 5 sessions, where I feel like my work really hit the next level.
1. Kristy’s Maternity Session
I chose this session because I don’t always document sessions at peoples homes. This session helped me to master the art of documenting at locations that could potentially be pretty difficult. We used flashes, natural light and their beautiful family home as the background for the images.
Amber Barath:
This session helped me to step out of my comfort level in location. Before her session we had scheduled it for the beach. However, at last minute she asked, “Can we just shoot here?” Here, referred to in a parking lot in a Ross shopping center. I’ll admit, in my mind I was thinking, “Okay, how the heck are we going to pull this off?” In the end, this session came out amazing, and Amber looks like a star. ;)
The Gender Reveal:
This was my gender reveal, to reveal the gender of my little boy to our closest friends and family. This helped me grow in my work because I had to capture everyones reaction fast. They all dived into their cupcakes at the same time, and capturing those reactions quickly, was key. I’d say we nailed it.
Jen & Justin:
Justin reached out to me because he was planning on proposing to his now fiance, Jen. We went to Disneyland and documented their day. This Session was beautiful, however it was a challenge.. The light was extremely harsh, and so difficult for me to work in. However, I love some of the way the images came out. Jen & Justin can make any photo look good.
Emalyn:
Emalyn was the first newborn I’ve ever documented. Needless to say, I give so much credit to those who specialize in newborns. We spent hours, went through pee, spit-up and all of the other cute little perks of babies :). Although she cried a lot, like most newborns do, we captured her sweet, innocent personality.. It took 3+ hours to document sweet Emalyn. We had to wait on her to fall asleep, eat, and be in such a state of sleep that we could pose her, haha. This girl was a trooper throughout her session probably because she looked so cute in those outfits her momma chose.
I hope you enjoyed the top 5! I can’t wait to share with you the blogs from December. Some of them definitely would have been posted here, but they just aren’t quite ready for the public eye. ;)
Stay tuned!
