$5 image vs. $5000 image…What would you pay?

If I told you that I would sell you an image for $5. What would you say?

Now, imagine if I told you I was going to charge you $5000 for an image…what would you say then? Why would you say it?

Now, you can take a sigh of relief because we don’t charge you $5000 for an image, but we don’t charge as low as $5 for an image either.

Let me explain with an analogy real quick. Say you want to go out and get some steak to eat for dinner. You have 2 options. You can head to the store and pick up a steak, some potatoes, some rolls, a bottle of wine, and a pie then head home and cook it up yourself, or you can head over to a nice restaurant and get the same exact thing and not cook it yourself. Chances are, you already know that the restaurant is going to cost more. Usually, it’s quite a bit more. So, why do people pay for the restaurant? Especially if it could cost you 5-10 times more for the same basic elements of dinner!

I’ll give you 2 reasons:
1. The experience
2. The quality of product

You see, when you go out to a nice restaurant, you’re willing to pay extra and even tip on top of that because of the incredible experience you get and the quality of product you receive.

You’re paying for a highly qualified chef, who went through highly specialized training to create an amazing product for you to enjoy. You’re also paying for the incredible service you receive at these high end restaurants. And you’re happy to do it because you find value in it.

The only difference between this analogy and our photography experience that we take each of our fantastic clients through is that you end up with a high quality product that lasts a lifetime and isn’t gone in an hour, like food is. An heirloom that will be passed down from generation to generation for people to remember you by when you’re gone. What price tag would you put on that?

Maybe you don’t value that and that’s fine. There are people who will and people who won’t, but if, by chance, you do value it, what’s holding you back from creating those lasting, heirloom images of you and your family? You never know when it could be too late.
