Why you NEVER want to Frame a print without a Mat!

As I dive into my 5th year of running my Family Photography business, I decided that it was time to make our artwork, last even longer.

It was a beautiful day, and as this mom was updating her pictures around her home, she took her framed print off the wall, carefully took of the backing of the frame and removed the print. However, the print didn’t come off, a portion of her beloved print was stuck to the glass and tore as she began to remove it from the frame.

Upon hearing this happen over and over again to friends a family, I’ve decided that all of our Framed Prints, should come with a complimentary mat. The picture mat’s job is to protect your photograph. The photograph that you hired your photographer for, the photograph that you love and adore. The mat is a protection piece that prevents your beloved photograph from not only touching the glass, but sticking to the glass. Mats are always known to pull in the focus to your professional photograph.

So, you’ve hired a photographer, gotten your beautiful portraits done and delivered to you on a disc. You go to your local store, get your photos printed, and choose a frame as well. A year passes and your picture frames begin sticking to the glass!

This is why our new process to Kincannon Photography is so important. So, after you experience a session with us, a professional photographer will come to your house, show you all of your jaw dropping portraits, guide you through all of the heirloom items, prints, canvases, frames, and mattes. This allows you to receive exactly what you expect without worry of mistakes, mess ups, and so much more that would cost you MORE money in the long run.
